Director of Nursing (pictured left).
DECATUR, IL — The Carriages of Decatur is thrilled to announce the powerful leadership team driving
its recent success, anchored by Executive Director Amber Green, alongside with Life Enrichment
Director Chelsea Wilkerson-Spencer and Director of Nursing Ayanna Green. Together, this dynamic
trio brings a profound dedication to local community roots, clinical excellence, and a heart for
senior care.
At the helm of the community's success is Executive Director Amber Green, a Decatur native and
proud Eisenhower High School alumna who has led The Carriages of Decatur for nearly three years.
Green’s visionary leadership has truly been the backbone of the facility's strong community
presence and impressive resident census. Driven by a deep love for people—a core value instilled in
her by her grandmother, she views family as her ultimate foundation. Under her guidance, the staff
and residents alike are treated as an extension of that family, creating an environment where
everyone feels blessed to be part of her group.
Working alongside her to elevate the resident experience is fellow Decatur native Chelsea
Wilkerson-Spencer, the community's Life Enrichment Director. Her roots in the area trace back to
growing up in Decatur and attending St. Patrick's Parish. Before finding her true calling in senior
living, Wilkerson-Spencer built a remarkably diverse professional portfolio, working as a banker
and later serving as a funeral sales manager—a role where she mastered the delicate art of guiding families through life's most sensitive milestones with profound empathy and grace. In her
role, she oversees all community events, therapeutic recreation, and social programming.
Leading the community's clinical team is Ayanna Green, a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who serves
as the Director of Nursing. For Ayanna, taking care of people is not just a profession, it is
something she was born to do. A steadfast, community-first advocate, she has dedicated much of her
life to helping other with mental health awareness initiatives, along with advocacy for the
homeless population. Her strongest skill is her ability to offer deep, unwavering compassion to all
those in need, a quality that shines through in her daily management of resident health, wellness,
and personalized care plans.
"We are incredibly blessed by the leadership team we have in place," said Angela, leadership
representative for The Carriages of Decatur. "Amber’s steady leadership, family-first foundation,
and years of dedication have been the absolute backbone of our community's growth. When you pair
her strength with Chelsea's creative empathy and Ayanna’s clinical compassion, you get an
unstoppable team. They embody the exact blend of heart, hometown pride, and professionalism that
our residents deserve."
This incredible leadership alignment comes at an exceptionally exciting time. The Carriages of
Decatur was recently honored with a local industry award, officially named the Best of 2026 Best
Assisted Living Facility in Decatur Township. With Amber Green steering the community's overall
success, Ayanna Green managing clinical excellence, and Wilkerson-Spencer helming the resident
experience, the community is poised to build upon this award-winning foundation.

Who doesn’t love a good surprise? ❤️
On Friday, our residents set off for what they thought was just a bus tour through Aikman Wildlife Adventure in Arthur. They enjoyed seeing the amazing animals from the comfort of our bus, but the adventure didn’t end there!
Waiting for them was a surprise stop at Yoder’s Kitchen, where we shared a delicious meal and plenty of laughter together. The smiles on their faces made keeping the secret completely worth it! Days like these remind us that some of the sweetest memories are the ones you never see coming.
