What an afternoon! 🎨❤️ Our residents had the opportunity to visit Krannert Art Museum for the Creative Aging Tour and Memory Café Program led by the AMAZING Rachel & John with Krannert and sponsored in partnership with Family Service of Champaign County!

We explored the Memorias de la Mujer Lotina: Arpilleras, Women, and Coal in Chile exhibition, featuring arpilleras—beautiful textile artworks created to tell stories and preserve memories—by women coal miners from Lota, Chile.

After the tour, our residents became artists and storytellers themselves! 🧵✨ They created their very own arpilleras, using colors, textures, and images to share stories and memories from their own lives.

What a meaningful afternoon filled with creativity, connection, conversation, and memories! We are so grateful for opportunities like this that remind us that everyone has a story worth telling. ❤️

🎉🎂 Happy 94th Birthday, Bill! 🎂🎉

We had the honor of celebrating Bill’s 94th birthday with him and his wonderful family today! ❤️

His family brought in a delicious birthday cake to share with everyone, and we made homemade vanilla ice cream to go along with it. 🍦🎂 There’s just something extra special about celebrating a milestone birthday surrounded by family, friends, laughter, cake, and a little homemade sweetness!

What an amazing way to spend our Saturday! 🥰

Happiest of birthdays, Bill! We hope your day was as special as you are to all of us!

With lots of love,
Your Carriages Family ❤️

What a day! We packed so much fun, learning, and resident engagement into one amazing day at The Carriages of Decatur!

We kicked off the morning with Buzz Words, where our residents absolutely crushed the challenge of creating four-letter (or longer) words using only the letters in the hive—and making sure every word included the letter L. They amazed us with their creativity!

Next came a little pampering with hair styling and nails before getting creative by making colorful Aloha license plates for walkers and wheelchairs. Then it was time for STEM Club, where we built (and definitely spent more time playing with! 😂) homemade drums that brought smiles and laughter to everyone.

The afternoon continued with a wonderful live piano performance by Winston Dunbar, filling our community with beautiful music. We wrapped up the day with Book Club, where we’re officially on the edge of our seats! We’re just one day away from finishing Sarah’s Legacy: It’s in the Stars, the sequel to The Forgotten Life of Sarah Grady. We fell in love with the first book, and this sequel has been just as captivating!

Days like today remind us that every moment matters. ❤️
